Bosch Laser Measure Review

Bosch Laser Measure GLM 40

Bosch Laser Measure GLM 40

Pros:

The Bosch Laser Measure GLM 40 is rated to a distance of 135 feet of measurement with an accuracy of 1/16th of an inch.

With the use of the “function” button, you are able to change from continuous measurements to area or volume, just to name a few.

This is an extremely compact little thing, 1″ x 1 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ to be precise, perfectly pocket sized.

With a total of only five buttons, there isn’t really anything difficult about using this laser measuring device.

We all know how well lit a regular construction site is, or that awkward space you are trying to measure, but luckily the screen is back-lit.

Cons:

No Bluetooth with this version of the Bosch Laser Measure, so if this is something you are looking for maybe consider this one.

Review:

In the construction industry 1/16th of an inch is more than acceptable for tolerances of nearly every construction task. I have my doubts anyone looking for an extremely accurate caliper would be considering a Bosch laser measure GLM 40, considering the lowest measurement it can take is 6 inches.

With each press of the function button, you are able to change from continuous measurements, single measurements with addition and subtraction, area, volume and Pythagorean theorem for a measurement you can’t reach.

A handy little pouch, that is quite well constructed with an attached velcro belt loop comes with the Bosch GLM 40. Although, if you would rather just shove it in your pocket, it will most definitely fit in nearly any pocket since it is so small.

As anyone that has ever been on a construction site can attest to, almost all of them are poorly lit at best. Luckily though, this laser measure has a fully lit screen that it on whenever the device is turned on.

There are some limitations with this laser measure, one being that it doesn’t have Bluetooth so you are unable to connect it to a phone or computer and import the measurements into an app or program.

Conclusion:

My girlfriend and I have used this laser on a number of different applications but we haven’t, as of yet, thrown away standard tape measures since this one does have a couple of small limitations. I would have to say that this is not a completely stand-alone measuring device, but I personally think that it is a handy addition to any tool bag. Standard tape measures have limitations too, so with both options, you are sure to be able to tackle any size project you want to.
