5.11 Tactical Series Rush 24 Backpack Review

Rush 24 Backpack

Rush 24 Backpack

Pros:

The Rush 24 Backpack has an enormous amount of zippered pockets to keep everything exactly where you put it and they aren’t tiny either which means that you can store lots in each pocket.

The felt-lined sunglasses pocket on this bag is conveniently located on the top of the bag to make sure that your expensive, prescription in my case, glasses do not get crushed by anything else in your backpack.

The 5.11 Rush 24 Backpack along with the others in this series have a large hydration pocket, that would be against your back. A novelty about these bags is that they all have rigid back supports built in, which makes them much more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time.

The integrated Molle web platform allows you to completely personalize this bag with a huge number of accessories. We added a water pocket to the backpack because my girlfriend and I have 500ml Nalgene water bottles that we like to take with us.

This backpack is probably one of the more comfortable backpacks that I have had the chance to wear given that the straps are farther apart right at the neck to make sure that the backpack sits correctly and doesn’t squeeze your neck.

Cons:

The only con for this backpack is the price but depending on the color you choose you might be able to save a bit of money.

Review:

I have always bought backpacks from general stores and tried to save money but in the end that has never really saved me anything as I have gone through backpack after backpack. Although I think my search has ended after finding the Rush 24 Backpack.

This backpack may be a little pricey but this just may be the last backpack you will ever buy.

I will say that this backpack isn’t necessarily designed for what I have bought it for since a friend that is a firefighter recommended it, but this has turned out to be a great backpack for school. The hydration pocket holds my laptop and the main compartment holds two 2″ binders and 2 textbooks quite easily.

Conclusion:

I am super happy that my friend recommended this bag to me. I would never have looked into a bag that had Molle webbing on the outside but with the added water pouch, this bag has turned out to be the perfect pack for me to travel to school with. It was more expensive than I hoped to spend, but on the back end, I am very happy that I took the plunge and just bought it.

If you are looking for a bag that can change from your school bag to a hiking backpack then look no further.

  1. Hey there! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell you I genuinely enjoy
reading your reviews. Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that cover the same subjects?
    Thanks a ton!

    1. If you are just looking for other reviews of the 5.11 Rush 24 Backpack, I would suggest Youtube as you will be able to see all the awesome pockets this bag has!

  2. Hello,
Very nice. When I bought this bag I thought “no way is it 64 liters” or whatever they advertise it as. Sure enough, it is. It has a zippered area that “collapses” the bag on itself. Really nice feature. The main compartment is huge. The other two compartments are kind of small and the organization is not that great within the bag. I wish the large interior part of the bag had some type of organization on the front and bag, then I would give it 5 stars. zippers are really good and smooth. This bag does not have hydration and does not have hookups for a waist belt.
    Thanks, Andrew

    1. Hello Andrew,

You are right. It does not come with a hydration bag, but it most definitely does have the pocket for one! Maybe you got an older version as the one I have does, in fact, have attachments for a waist belt.

  3. Pretty large you can put a couple notebooks in just the front pocket. Theres a side pocket for little things, but it isnt big enough to fit a water bottle. The smaller front pocket is considerably large, but lacks an organizer for pencils and other items. The main compartment is basically just a large container theres no organization somewhat and there is laptop sleeve that can hold even a 17in laptop. The only thing I dont like is the lack of organization and the inability to remove the waist belt.
    Just thought I’d share.
